PRINCIPAL MESSAGE
Blossoms School, Patiala established in 1981 started as a nursery
school with 5 children and has reached the Sr. Secondary level in the
year 2005. The institution has surpassed the humble dream of three
trustees of the school who have strived hard to provide quality
education. We create thinking skills among the children where the role
of a teacher is not only essential, but discreet in exploring the
expression and ability of the child - in simple words Blossoms school
toddler is a happy child - our kindergarten is a children's garden.
Education in school these days unduly focuses on the examination
system rather than overall development of children. Scoring high in
examinations has become the focus of our system where tuition industry
and teaching shops exists churning out standardized graduates who are
weak in creating, thinking, discovering and taking initiatives.
Blossoms school provides a learning experience of life skills with
continuous direction which also includes curriculum evaluation
supported by internal assessment, decreasing the burden of home work
at every level of class till 10th grade — guidelines are from time to
time communicated by the CBSE Board.
I am reminded of the famous quote of Noble Laureate Amartya Sen "Basic
education is not just an arrangement for training to develop skills,
it is also a recognition of the nature of the world, with its
diversity and richness, and an appreciation of freedom and reasoning
as well as friendship. The need for that understanding — that vision-
has never been stronger".
In Blossoms there is place for everyone from the brightest to the not
so brilliant. Bach child is an individual with manifold talents,
waiting to unfold in the right sphere. Thus we hold special classes
for meritorious students, which bore fruit when our three students of
class Xth were declared on the merit list in Maths this year by CBSE.
Attention is also given to the weak students by holding extra classes
for them during vacations, which made us proud of having 100% results
for the last 6 years.
In this age of information technology, it is no longer sufficient to
learn the three R(s)" that are Reading, wRiting and aRithmetic and
there's a dire need of learning the fourth "R" which is computer. The
school has computer labs where children not only have an access to
internet facilities but also syllabi of senior classes are taught
through computer skills. We endeavour to impart education giving the
children a solid foundation to attain higher skills and enable them to
follow their dreams.
The journey to adulthood is a joyous one, but it has some rough
patches. It is easy to give into the realisms of the world. We go by
Mahatma Gandhi's adage, "Be the change you want to be in the world,
when the world looks broken, look within first". If we use that
solution and retain that hope
