Annual Report of BDPS
Presented
by the Principal at the Annual Function 2006
Honorable Chief Guest.
Distinguished Guests and Dear Parents,
On behalf of the Management, President Mrs. Sukhwinderjit kaur Ji,
Secretary S.Manmohan Singh Kohli and the Budha Dal famiiy, I extend a
warm and hearty welcome to all present here for the Annual Prize Giving
function of Budha Dai Public School. It is a great honour and privilege to
have you all here. Budha Dal Public School is undoubtedly a premiere
institution not only of the region but globally also. It was founded by
the Chief of Budha Dal, Singh Sahib Jathedar Baba Santa Singh Ji, 96 era
re, in 1984 with only 15 students on its rolls'. Today we have over 4200
students. B.D.P.S. has progressed over the years to become one of the most
sought after schools in the city and has carved out a niche by two
consecutive victories at NASA. Over the last 22 years, our stress-free
environment has proved to be conducive to ' achieving al! the goals the
students have set for themselves with their own ingenuity and initiative.
I now present a brief report on the achivements and activities of the
school during the session 2005-2006.
ACADEMIC CLASS XII RESULTS
In all, 188 students appeared in the Science Stream out of which 41
students scored above 80%, with 7 above 90%. The toppers were Amaninder
Singh Sohi from Non-Medical Section with 93-2% and Amiteshwar from the
Medical Section with 92%. 79 students appeared from the Commerce Stream,
giving 100% success. 9 students scored above 90% and 26 scored above 80%,
with Akriti Kohli topping with 94.6%.
From the Humanities Section, Aditi Rishi topped with 90.6%. Enviable
results indeed
CLASS X RESULTS
In all, 250 students appeared in the 10th Board exams, with 31 getting
over 90% and 113 above 80%. Amttoz Singh topped with 96.8%, followed by
Jasneet with 96%.
Our students have done the institution proud with their brilliant
performance, and have secured meritorious positions in various competitive
exams, like AIEEE, IU, CET & PMT. Aarushi secured 740th rank in NT, 98th
rank in AIEEE and 32nd rank in CET and is presently stutfj at NT, Delhi.
Similarly, Aashish Papneja topped AIEEE, followed by Sumeet Tiwana,
holding the 5th position.
SPORTS ACTIVITES in the
academic year gone by, we attained great sucess in sports & games too.
Rajat Verma. 9th-C cadet, won a Bronze at the National Fencing
Championship held at Guwahati. He also bagged the Gold & Bronze Medals in
State Fencing Championship held at Mohali. Gaurav Deep Sandhu bagged one
Gold and two Bronze Medals at Guwahati for under-19 group and won two Gold
and one Bronze Medals at state leve! Ravisha Bhardwaj won a Gold Medal in
fencing in the National School Games held in Hyderabad in January 2006.
Amitesh won the Gold Medal in 50mt, the Silver Medal in 10Omt and the
Bronze in 200mt free-style swimming at the 52nd Punjab School Games .
Anupamjit bagged the Gold Medal in Rdler Skating at District Level and
Silver and Gold at the State School Level
Gurjit Kaur secured 1st and Illrd potions in 22 Rifle Shooting in 31st
Punjab State Rifle Association Competition held at Chandigarh. Udayan
Moudgi1!, Navpreet Singh, Prabhjot Singh, Himanshu, Mithul, Digvijay and
Harjot Singh won Gold, Silver and Bornze Medals in the first Harkiran Kaur
Memorial Taekwondo Championship held in Patiala on 30th July 2006.
Our school girls' team won the under-16 Basket Ball Open District
Tournament held at the Poio Ground on 13th and 14th October 2006.
Our Cricket Team won the 1st position in the Danik Jagran Cup.
The latest feather in our cap was winning the XV CBSE Cluster Basket Ball
Tournament held at BDPS from 28th to 30th Sept 2006.
Our well trained NCC cadets did us proud at several camps and competitions
at all levels. CO-
CURRICULAR
ACTIVITIES
Our main focus is on all-round physical and mental development of our
students in a healthy enviornment so that they can step into the
challenging world with confidence and can scale greater heights in
whatever they undertake.
Discipline, ethics and moral values are inculcated from the beginning. We
stress upon fluency and lucidity in spoken and written English at all
stages. We are equipped with the latest infrastructure required for such
activities. Our labs of Science, Computers, English, Maths are stocked
with the latest teaching aids. The Conference Room with audio-visual aids
is used to show various films and to conduct debates etc. Children are
encouraged to participate in co-curncular activities with a wide choice at
their disposal. School trips and excursions are organised to instil in the
students a sense of adventure. During the session, students were taken to
Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala and Banglore. Mysoore, Nanital &
Mussone Children enjoyed the short trips to water parks, Thunderzone, Fun
City etc.
FOUNDER'S DAY
Our school was founded in 1984, which is celebrated every year on 6th of
May with lots of zeal and fervour. We start off with the cross-country
earfy morning, followed by a rib-tickling basketball match of teachers and
students. Shabad Gayan and Rangoli competitions were also added to the
events this year.
INTER-HOUSE ACTIVITES
Inter House Competitions and Matches are regularly held for seniors
and juniors in Chess, Cricket
Football, Badrnintion, Cross Country etc.
Himanshu Gupta was granted scholarship under the Cultural Talent Search
Scholarship Scheme 2006
The students' creativity is also tapped by holding individual group or
house-competitions in activities which are a treat to watch like bulletin
board, rangoli, art & craft flower decoration, salad making singing,
shabad gayan, dance, music, debate declamation yoga, French etc. They also
participate in science and in Gurmat quiz.
SCHOOL ALUMNUS
An illustrious alumnnus Ishatpal Singh the head boy of session
2002-03, studying in Thapar institute of
Eng. & Tech, Patiala has been placed in the world's 3rd best construction
company.See Laing-O-Rourke for working on the Atlantics Project of the
Palm City in Dubai with the highest pay package of Rs 17 lakhs. We are
proud to have produce the students like Ishtpal who also help us on and
off in our programmes.
The building has been extended to accomodate the increased strenqth both
in senior & junior wings.
TO CONCLUDE, I PRODULY STATE THAT ALL OUR STUDENTS KEEP ALIVE
OUR MOTTO OF SERVE, STRIVE & CONQUER with their diligent efforts and
emerge as winners in the struggle of life
and scale new heights in all their endeavours with the whole hearted sport
of BDPS Family.
