Akal College of Education for Women, Fatehgarh Chhanna, Sangrur marks the fulfillment of the long-cherished desire of Late Honorable Sardar Gurbaksh Singh Sibia. The process of its consummation was faithfully pursued by his worthy son Sardar Teghvir Singh Sibia, the present President of the Governing body and his associates such as Principal Surjit Singh Gandhi (Retd.) Secretary, S. Narendra Singh Mann Joint Secretary, Principal Sivraj Kaur Director, Dr. Harjit Kaur, S. Pirthipal Singh, S. Gurbir Singh & other members of the Governing Body. Ultimately having gone through the rough and tumble of bureaucratic labyrinths, the Governing Body succeeded in getting affiliation of the Punjabi University, Patiala for the Institutions.

In fact it has acquired more shine and relevance in the modern times, when the world is undergoing fast changes under the impact of phenomenal advancement in science and technology and it is being globalized at a breakreck speed. There has arisen an urgent need to bring about a peculiar flexibility of mind to enable people to cope with the rapidly changing social and political scenarios. To do this job, a special genre of teachers is the need of the hour. The need is more acute if teachers along with their normal duties are to work among females who because of age long taboos are step behind the males and for whose liberation and uplift Guru Nanak and his successors struggled a lot.

This type of thinking led the Governing Body to launch Akal College of Education for Women. We are sure that our endeavor will bring fruit and we will be able to contribute our -humble share to the reconstruction of human kind on sound basis.
